Heard Anne has been on a deadly detox diet, if you know what I mean. Now I was all curious to know what little Anne was up to. Anne Hathaway, as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess diaries stole my heart with her raven curls and coy smile. But now she really broke my heart with her emaciated figure and short, sheared hair for Les Miserables. She looked gaunt and literally ugly-run down, shrunken and wasted with hollowed out cheeks and sunken eyes.
In the early days of her career in her 20s, Anne Hathaway ate meat like everyone else but since she read Jonathan Foers Eating Animals, she turned vegan and has stuck to plant foods since then. Luckily for her, she never went too plump and has always remained small and slim. After the filming of Knight, she decided not to indulge in unhealthy foods and has stuck to vegetarianism ever since.

Now Anne has new roles are coming her way which demand more of her time and weight like the Cat woman in The Dark Knight rises and the frail prostitute in Les Miserables. She has risen up to the occasion and started out on a detox plan, a starvation diet and rigorous work out. She has to lose 25 pounds in a month and is hence on a low carbs, lean protein, and zero fat-diet. She has to stick to only hummus and radishes and is into Kale and pasta. But the biggest challenge for her has been resisting her favorite cheese!

A great fan of vegan diet, Anne quips-"I don't go the soy meat route," she says. "I have a really plant-based diet. So I wind up cooking at home a lot. Kale is amazing. Spelt pasta is amazing,"But Annes former health expert Jackie Keller is skeptical about Annes diet regime of hummus and radishes which, she feels, is alone not enough to slim down. Whatever be the case, Anne is content with thinning down on the extreme measure only for Les Miserables and is back to basics of her vegan diet thereafter.
Hathaway, in fact, doesnt recommend that extreme 2 week fasting when she says-I don't recommend it . . . You can be too thin." She has been candid enough to admit that thinning down for the movie and going on a detox was a major hurdle for her. Her statement -"I've always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job, I also have to be strong, reveals the kind of temptation she had to resist and the sacrifices she made to get into the cat woman outfit and the dying whore act.
Anyway, Anne is now vehemently against this kind of starvation stunts after these films and vetoes them for her fan following. She has been right in saying: 'I lost the first 10lbs in three weeks through a detox and then I lost the subsequent 15 in 14 days by doing food deprivation and exercise, which I don't recommend. 'I know when I was a teenage girl... I would try crazy things and I do not recommend anyone do this at all. 'I was under the supervision of a nutritionist and I had a doctor monitoring me, but it's not fun. You can be too thin.'
It looks like Anne has a head firmly on her shoulders. She is willing to take risks on her health for the sake of a career but does not intend to do it often. She does not like to starve to stay thin and would rather be vegan and stay slim. She also does not recommend such unhealthy starvation practices and insists that watching our diet and being vegan is wholly sufficient for staying slim. It would do well for all of us to follow this sensible suggestion of Anne Hathaway to keep us healthy on a sunny day.
